Chapter 14 – My Queen Is a Hard Worker / Preparation Is Important for Everything

* * * * *

It’s been a month since Rachel became Ewaldt’s queen.

During this month, Rachel has been on the move every day without a break.

The first week, she went to the front lines and created a large number of skeletons and zombies from the surrounding areas.

She must have resurrected a large number of the dead.

Along the way, Ewaldt felt some of his mana flow into Rachel, and he laughed.

Rachel, who had become rich and had a magical connection with the Demon Lord, should have had a significant amount of mana, but it wasn’t enough, so more was extracted from Ewaldt.

Subsequent reports indicated that the undead army had grown from several thousand to around ten thousand.

They were immediately deployed to the front lines.

Since the undead need no rest, the human side was attacked day and night by skeletons and zombies, and must have been physically and mentally exhausted.

Both skeletons and zombies are vulnerable to fire and Holy Magic, but not everyone has magical abilities, and most human soldiers fight with swords.

Skeletons will rise again and again until they are shattered to pieces, and zombies will continue to move even if their limbs are severed.

Since they are dead from the start, there is no such thing as death for them.

For the human side, such enemies must be incredibly troublesome.

No matter how many enemies are defeated, they’ll rise again and continue their relentless assault, whether it’s day or night.

They allow no time for rest.

While the humans fight desperately, the demons basically command the skeletons and zombies, sending in werewolves and other demons to strike when their lines falter.

Gradually wear them down and when they weaken, crush them. A simple strategy.

However, this approach minimizes the demons’ losses.

In the meantime, Rachel regularly visits the front lines to replenish the skeletons and zombies. When she wasn’t, was discussing strategy with executives and interacting with other demons.

And yet, she would always return for tea and meals with Ewaldt.

“My queen seems to be a very hard worker.”

Ewaldt greeted her with a smile, and Rachel tilted her head.

“Is that so?”

He took Rachel’s hand and led her to the table.

Ewaldt pulled a seat out for her, and Rachel smiled and sat down, saying “Thank you”.

Ewaldt sat across from him.

“I assume you go to the front once every few days, and the rest of the time you interact with the Executives and their subordinates to see how well they’re doing?”

“Yes, that’s right. I think the most important thing is to know who can do what and who to assign the work to.”

“I see.”

Rachel is likely interacting with the demons to see if they are capable of carrying out the operation.

Ewaldt thinks it’s possible.

Demons are not good at group activities, but at the same time, they are a fun-loving race.

Rachel’s plan would be very entertaining for the demons.

Surely, the demons would gladly do it.

There’s no need for Ewaldt to intervene.

“Rachel, are you enjoying the preparations for revenge?”

Rachel nodded with a smile in response to Ewaldt’s question.

“It’s a lot of fun.”

With Rachel as queen, the Demon Lord’s army decided to crush the Kingdom of Inglith in order to fulfill their promise to her.

In the first place, the Kingdom of Inglith is the linchpin of the human side.

The Kingdom of Inglith itself is not a major power, but it is close to the territory of the demons, and because of its status as a country that summoned the Saint, it has a strong position among the surrounding countries.

That’s why destroying this country would be interesting.

What would humans do if they lost the Saint?

Will they summon one from the other world again, or will they unite and advance even after losing their Saint?

However, if the Kingdom of Inglith, which held the surrounding countries together, were to be overrun by demons, it would be devastating.

It doesn’t take much thought to know that they would send in military forces to prevent this from happening.

“The other day, I sent several werewolf units to each country. The front lines are starting to crumble, but if nothing else is done, reinforcements will arrive soon. To prevent that from happening, I told the werewolf units to wreak havoc in each country.”

Other countries will likely notice that the front lines are beginning to collapse.

If left unchecked, each country will deploy manpower into the front line, and the Demon Lord’s army would once again be outnumbered.

But what if demons suddenly appeared within their countries?

Furthermore, if there are reports of demon sightings and damage in multiple locations, the country will be forced to deal with that.

The presence of demons in the country would cause instability.

“This event is not in the story, so Saintess Yuri can’t predict it. I’m sure each country would be very surprised if a demon suddenly appeared in their lands.”

“Fufu”, Rachel laughed happily.

“So that’s why you chose the werewolves.”

“Yes, they can mimic human form.”

The werewolf species can take on both humanoid and demonic forms.

They usually look very much like wolves, but they can also mimic humans.

Although less powerful than werewolves, they can still pose a serious threat to humans.

Moreover, since they generally move in packs, they are accustomed to group behavior even among the demons.

“If each country allocates personnel domestically, the number of soldiers sent to the front lines will decrease. That’s why I’ve told the werewolf troops to rampage as they please.”

“It’s going to be hilarious.”

The humans will realize that there are werewolves among them, and they will likely become suspicious and wary of one another.

The humans may crush each other.

That would be very interesting.

“Now that I think about it, you also sent in the succubi and the incubi, didn’t you?”

Shortly after Rachel became the queen, she asked Hilde for a favor.

Hilde is the leader of the succubus and incubus clans.

She may look young, but she’s lived for quite a while.

Rachel nodded at Ewaldt’s words.

“Yes, I sent them to various countries. Not only to gather information, but also to curry favor with as many of the countries’ higher-ups as possible and mislead them with sweet talk.”

Ewaldt held Rachel’s hand.

“Tell me more.”

“Okay, but it’s a trivial matter.”

First, succubi and incubi become the mistresses or lovers of the country’s upper echelons.

Then, at first, they will convey accurate information about the demons.

However, the contents are limited to items that would not be problematic even if they were known.

By providing some information, they gain trust.

Meanwhile, werewolves start causing trouble in each country, and when that happens, they whisper:

“The battlefront has certainly collapsed a bit, but it’s not a problem yet. More importantly, we need to deal with the demons’ invasion of our country. But it’s strange. The Saint has predicted the movements of the demons many times before, but this time she didn’t say anything. Perhaps they want to use this as an opportunity to weaken our country’s power and consolidate their own position.”

Until now, the Saint has predicted not only what will happen on the battlefield, but also what kind of demons will appear where.

Therefore, countries have believed in the Saint.

However, what if in this case, the Saint did not make a prophecy, or her prophecy was wrong?

Once is one thing, but what if it happens twice or three times?

Countries would begin to lose faith in the Saint.

“Saintess Yuri thinks that the demons will act according to the story. That’s why we can read our opponents’ movements. We’re looking ahead.”

However, the actions are not completely different from the story.

It resembles the story at first, but then it changes along the way.

“If her prophecies keep failing, what will become of Saintess Yuri’s position?”

Even though she is a Saint, she has never been able to handle Holy Attribute Magic perfectly from the beginning.

With training, you will be able to use magic.

When Rachel was in the Kingdom of Inglith, the Saint was in the process of being trained to use magic.

“The current Saintess Yuri cannot seal away Lord Ewaldt. She is not skilled enough in magic yet, so she maintains her position as a Saint mainly through her prophecies.”

However, if her prophecies prove incorrect, Saintess Yuri’s position will become precarious.

“And the Crown Prince and the Kingdom of Inglith, who are the guardians of such a Saint, will also come under suspicion.”

Rachel laughs.

“In the meantime, the battle line that couldn’t be manned will collapse, and we demons will invade. The first to suffer would be the Kingdom of Inglith. Other countries would become suspicious and would likely not act immediately.”

“What if they do?”

“To prevent that, I’ll have the succubi whisper, ‘The Kingdom of Inglith has a Saint, so it’ll be fine. For now, we should do something about the demons within our own country’.”

In fact, without the dispatch of personnel from other countries, the Kingdom of Inglith would not be able to compete with the Demons.

If there was a Saint who was as skilled in Holy Magic as the First Saint, she could weaken many demons with wide-area magic.

However, according to Rachel, the Saint can only manage to deploy it within a range of a few meters.

“We’re still in the early stages of the story. Saintess Yuri will get stronger as the story progresses, so she’s not very strong right now.”

All that remains is for the demons to invade the Kingdom of Inglith while the succubi skillfully manipulate the upper echelons of the other countries.

“If the other nations intervene, I will fight on the front lines. I’m sure we’ll need the undead army.”

“Then I’ll go too.”

“You as well, Lord Ewaldt?”

Rachel looks curious.

“It would look bad if the king did nothing while the queen worked. Besides, it’s important to get some exercise every once in a while.”

And he wants to see Rachel’s battles up close.

He wants to be close enough to see how Rachel’s plan works and what results it brings.

“Then, I’ll ask this favor of you.”

Saying this, Rachel shook Ewaldt’s hand.

Ever since becoming Lord Ewaldt’s wife, every day has been fulfilling.

As promised, Lord Ewaldt had notified all of the demons to proceed with the invasion of the Kingdom of Inglith, and thanks to that, my plan was not opposed by the Demons.

First of all, I asked Hilde to send the succubi and incubi to blend in with the surrounding countries of the Kingdom of Inglith.

Succubi survive by feeding on human essence.

When it comes to seduction, it’s best to leave it to the succubi.

The succubi will likely find it easy to curry favor with the country’s higher-ups.

Succubi seem to be able to change their appearance to suit their partner’s tastes, so combined with this skill, it should be easy to become a mistress or lover.

This will allow them to take the reins of the upper echelons.

Shortly afterward, werewolf units were sent out to various countries.

These are rare demons that can mimic humans, and although they are less capable than werewolves, they are good at blending in with humans because of their ability.

Two or three teams have been sent to each country, and they will wreak havoc in their respective countries as soon as they arrive.

A village over there would be attacked, and then this town would be attacked by demons, plunging the country into chaos.

The werewolves went off happily.

Demons generally love killing humans.

On the front lines, the number of skeletons and zombies are gradually increasing, slowly breaking down the line, but sometimes they are deliberately forced to retreat, giving the impression that the situation is still at a stalemate.

As the succubi approach the higher-ups and werewolf units begin to move into each country, once the situation begins to become chaotic, they will collapse the front lines at once.

At that point, it will be a race against time.

If it took too long to reach the royal capital of the Kingdom of Inglith, other countries would surely intervene.

In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to go straight to the royal capital after breaking the battle line.

In the meantime, we will have to fight.

…… Well, if that happens, I’ll step in.

There are some spells that I want to try, so both I and Lord Ewaldt will make the journey to the royal capital.

We will attack and destroy the country.

At the same time, we proclaim the resurrection of the Demon Lord in a spectacular manner.

…… It would surely be chaos if that happened.

The Kingdom of Inglith, the main nation of the Anti-Demon Lord’s army, will be destroyed.

Moreover, if the Saint is also lost, the coordination of the countries will fall apart.

As long as the Kingdom of Inglith is destroyed, I don’t care what happens after that, but now that I’ve become a demon, I have no intention of siding with the humans.

They can also just invade neighboring countries.

…… I will never let you go, and I will never forgive you.

The Crown Prince, Saintess Yuri, the Duke, and the people.

“What should I do if I catch him?”

I’m not going to let it end easily.
