Chapter 15 – Saintess Yuri / The Beginning of Ruin
* * * * *
I, Aizawa Yuri, am a reincarnated person.
In my previous life, I was an ordinary high school girl.
I had normal parents and friends, and was just an ordinary girl like any other.
I wasn’t a standout in my class, but I was still recognized by the other kids to some extent.
I liked web novels and otome games, and among them, my favorite was an otome game called “Sacred Love: Your Fated One”.
Among fans, it was called “Sacred Fate“.
I was so addicted to the game that I played it over and over again, to the point that I even memorized the characters’ lines.
The main character, a high school girl named Aizawa Yuri, is suddenly summoned to another world where she is called a Saint, and informed that humans and demons are at war.
Yuri decides to fight for the humans.
As she grows through her battles with the demons, Yuri gradually becomes closer to the men known as her capture targets, and eventually falls in love with them.
This game is a love story between the main character, Yuri, and some cool guys.
Whenever I played a game, I imagined myself as the main character.
My favorite of them all was Demon Lord Faust.
The king of the demons, with silver hair, crimson eyes, and brown skin.
Although he has a cold and cruel side, he is conflicted by his love for the main character, and is torn between his love and his identity as the Demon Lord.
Depending on your choices, Yuri may be killed, but if you reach the happy ending, you’ll get to see the soft side of the ruthless Demon Lord.
Faust was my favorite.
But one day, I died.
Without warning, I found myself in a completely white space, with a very beautiful woman apologizing to me.
“I’m sorry, I made a mistake and caused your death. Someone else was supposed to die instead…”
“Eh…… am I dead?”
Naturally, I was angry, but the woman, who claimed to be the goddess, said she would grant me one wish in return.
At that moment, “Sacred Fate” came to mind.
“Then I want to be Yuri, the main character of ‘Sacred Fate’.”
Normally, I would have been laughed at for wanting to enter the world of a video game.
But the woman, who said she was a goddess, nodded.
“Let’s reincarnate you as Aizawa Yuri.”
And just like that, I was reborn.
Into a girl named Aizawa Yuri.
Yuri’s family was wealthy, her parents were beautiful and handsome, so their child, Yuri, was also good-looking.
She also has many talents and excels at whatever she does.
She is good at both sports and academics, and people naturally gather around her and are kind to her.
Of course, I also tried to behave like Yuri, the main character, but that eventually became second nature to me.
Aizawa Yuri was someone who was loved by everyone.
Still, I had a dream.
When I turn sixteen, I can go to the world he is in.
The world where my favorite, Demon Lord Faust, lives.
The long-awaited day came, and I was summoned as a Saint to the otherworldly Kingdom of Inglith.
The reason I was summoned was because the descendant of the Saint in this country was unable to fulfill her role as a Saint, and so there had to be someone who could save humans in the war against demons.
The game didn’t go into that much detail, so I almost laughed when I heard this story.
Rachel Sheringham, who becomes the villainess in the Crown Prince route, is actually a descendant of the First Saint, but she cannot fulfill her role as a Saint because she possesses Dark Attribute magic power.
…… Well, I’m surprised you managed to become the Crown Prince’s fiancée with that.
Faust is my favorite, but Crown Prince Rufus is also a good-looking character so I like him quite a bit.
Since I had played the game so much that I had memorized his lines, it was easy to increase Rufus’s likability.
In order to enter the Demon Lord Route, one must first enter the Crown Prince Route.
However, his relationship with Rachel remained strained.
…… It’s bad that he doesn’t get along with Rachel.
When the seal of the Demon Lord Faust is broken, if Rachel isn’t on his side, she will be seduced by Faust’s sweet words and will offer up her magic power, causing the Demon Lord to be completely resurrected.
If that happens, the Demon Lord will kill Yuri.
So I tried to talk to Rachel many times, but she avoided me, and when I finally did, she didn’t seem to be on my side at all.
…… I don’t want to die!
When I was thinking about what to do, I thought of this.
If you can’t make her your ally, just eliminate her.
Without Rachel, the Demon Lord would not be able to fully resurrect.
I will not be killed.
To that end, I decided to make a prophecy.
I remembered the storyline of the original game, so I knew where the demons would appear and what kind of demons they would appear.
At first, people looked at me with suspicion, but as soon as my prophecy came true two or three times, they soon began to appreciate my prophecies and my status as a saint grew.
And so, I made a prophecy at the evening party held in the Royal Castle.
“The Duke of Sheringham’s daughter, Rachel Sheringham, is dangerous! She possesses dark attribute magic and can use necromancy! If left unchecked, she will eventually be involved in the resurrection of the Demon Lord and become a threat to Lord Rufus and the royal family!!”
Rufus, the Royal Family, and even Rachel’s family, the Duke, believed my words as a Saint.
I may have done something a little cruel to Rachel, but in the end, I, Yuri, am the protagonist in this world.
Die for my sake.
It was hilarious to see Rachel being dragged to the execution table in tatters.
She avoided me repeatedly, never tried to get along with me at all when I talked to her, and I didn’t really like the fact that she was Rufus’ fiancée.
After all, I, the main character, am the one who should be loved.
Rufus loves me.
And yet, the fact that he’s engaged to someone else doesn’t seem very amusing.
When Rachel died, I couldn’t help but smile.
…… Now Faust will never be completely resurrected!
If that happens, he’ll have no choice but to agree to the peace that I, the Saint, will propose, and by spending time together with him, I’m sure I’ll be able to capture him just like in the game.
With Rachel gone, there will be no more death routes for me.
After that, I was in a sunny mood.
Until I meet Faust, I can enjoy my love affair with Rufus.
Rufus is kind and cool, and as the Crown Prince, he’s rich and gifts dresses, ornaments, and all sorts of other things.
Although the temple was a bit persistent, they didn’t seem to be able to exert any power over the Royal Family, so they didn’t bother me.
Living in a luxurious castle, dressed in gorgeous clothes, and being courted by a handsome prince, I really feel like a princess.
While I was enjoying afternoon tea with Rufus, a knight came into the room a little nervous and whispered something to Rufus.
Hearing this, Rufus looked surprised.
“What?”
I ask Rufus, who raises his eyebrows.
“Rufus, what’s wrong?”
Rufus looked at me.
“The Arendt Front has collapsed. Our human army has been routed, and the demons have crossed the front line.”
“Eh?”
…… Was that the plot in the early stages?
“Yuri, didn’t you have a prophecy?”
When asked again, I nodded back.
“U, um, I didn’t. Well, you see, prophecy doesn’t mean you can see what you want to see…”
“I see, that’s how it is, pardon me.”
“Oh, it’s alright. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of any help.”
I apologize, and Rufus takes my hand.
“There’s no need to apologize Yuri. It’ll be fine. We’re far from the front lines, so we can contact the other countries right away and replenish our troops, and we’ll be able to get things back on track.”
Rufus is so cool in moments like this.
When I looked relieved, Rufus smiled back.
Being the crown princess or queen is tempting, but Faust is still my ultimate favorite. As much as it pains me, it’s probably best not to raise Rufus’s likeability rating any higher.
Right now, I’m more than satisfied just being his fiancée.
And I have memories of the original story.
Even if something unexpected were to happen, I should be able to handle it somehow.
After all, everything has followed the original plot so far.
The frontlines aren’t supposed to collapse until much later, but I know exactly how the demons will move after that. So I just need to keep using my “prophecy” to stay one step ahead and win, just like before.
“Rufus, don’t worry, you can win.”
Because I’m the protagonist of this world.

“The battle lines have collapsed.”
Rodolphe’s words made me smile.
“That’s good to hear.”
We are one step closer to the Kingdom of Inglith.
My revenge has begun.
“Sounds fun, right?”
I nodded when Rodolphe told me.
“Yes, very much. I can take revenge on the Kingdom of Inglith, the Crown Prince, and Saintess Yuri, so I can’t help but be excited.”
“Killing the Demon Queen? Isn’t the Kingdom of Inglith really stupid? Even though you are so capable?”
“I’m glad to hear you say that.”
Many of the demons are honest, so Rodolphe’s words must be sincere.
Because I know that, I’m honestly happy when I’m praised.
“Now, Rodolphe, I want you to begin the pursuit.”
Rodolphe fell to his knees.
“Understood, Demon Queen.”
Rodolphe got up and walked away.
From now on, he will take his werewolves and other subordinates to pursue the fleeing humans.
I am sure that many humans will die.
But I didn’t feel any sadness or pity.
Rather, the more humans died, the faster the invasion of the Kingdom of Inglith would proceed, so I felt grateful for their deaths.
…… I wonder if there’s something wrong with me?
When I was human, it was painful to see someone hurt, as if their pain were my own, but that’s not the case now.
Had I become a demon even in my heart?
But even that didn’t matter.
As long as I can get revenge on the Kingdom of Inglith, that will be enough.
But now I’m just a little grateful to the Kingdom of Inglith.
Thanks to my execution, not only did I become an immortal named Lich, but I also met Ewaldt and became Demon Queen.
I was never attached to the position of Princess, but as the Crown Prince’s fiancée, I feel happy that all the education I received up to that point has not been in vain.
My efforts have not been in vain.
“Demon Queen”
When I was called out, I turned around to see Wilhelm standing there.
“Is it our turn yet?”
Behind Wilhelm, several dragons were waiting.
They were fidgeting as if wanting to fight as soon as possible.
“After Rodolphes and his men have cornered the enemy, they will set off a smoke signal. Once the red smoke signal has risen, please begin showering the human army with your breath attacks as much as you like. It will take a little while until then.”
“I see. It’s been a while since we’ve been out.”
“Really?”
I feel like if there were dragons, wars would end in no time.
“The humans have invented a spell to bring us dragons to the ground. Also, there are many battles between humans and demons. If we join the battle poorly, the demons will also suffer damage.”
I nodded in response.
“Yes, that’s right. That’s why I’m having Rodolphe drive back the humans.”
Rodolphe and his subordinates are chasing the humans.
Presumably the situation is similar on other parts of the front.
To drive the humans into certain spots.
If the humans are cornered in a place where escape is difficult or impossible, such as a cliff or a swamp, the dragons will launch a simultaneous attack from above.
With no way to escape, or in places where it is difficult to escape, the humans will be hit by the dragons’ breath and killed by their sharp claws and fangs.
This is not just to break up the front line, but also to give the dragons a chance to play an active role, thus maintaining their pride.
Despite their strength, they haven’t been able to fight much in the past due to their area of effect attacks such as their breath.
And their massive size makes them stand out.
But that’s fine this time.
“If a dragon suddenly attacked them from above in a place with no way to escape, the humans would be helpless.”
Moreover, ordinary arrows and swords are ineffective against dragons.
Since the surface of their body is covered with hard scales, it is difficult to injure them unless the attack is reinforced with magic.
…… What a shame.
“Have you never considered attacking human towns and villages?”
Wilhelm shook his head.
“When we fight, we destroy everything. Supplies and everything else. There are also demons among us who eat the humans they kill, so we get a lot of complaints.”
“Complaints?”
“If we kill with our breath, they get burned or shredded, and if we crush them, they get pulverized.”
“…… I see.”
But looking at Wilhelm.
“You don’t have to worry about that this time. Just go wild to your heart’s content.”
Wilhelm nodded, and the dragons behind him raised their heads.
A closer look revealed several red smoke signals rising from the distance.
“Now, dragons, it’s your turn.”
When I called out to him, Wilhelm lowered his head slightly.
In the blink of an eye, his body transformed into a dragon.
“Kill as many humans as you want.”
Wilhelm nodded at my words.
“Understood. Onward, my brethren.”
The dragons soaring into the sky one after another are beautiful, the sunlight reflecting off their scales making them sparkle.
Most of the defeated human army will probably die.
Even if the survivors make it to the Royal Capital, by that time, our Demon Lord’s army will be closing in on them.
…… Ah, I’m really looking forward to it.
Saintess Yuri, the Crown Prince, the Duke Family, and the people.
How will they react when they see me?
…… I’m on my way now, so wait for me.
I’m really looking forward to meeting you all.
