Chapter 7 – The Most Powerful Demon King in History. Takes an Ancient Dragon as his Vassal

Jorm tilts his head.

“Dominance?”

“I will slay the Demon God in this life. That’s not all. After I slay the Demon God, I will rule over this world as well. Jorm, serve me and help me on the path to dominance.”

Jorm stares at me with a serious expression.

“………… Are you serious?”

“I wouldn’t utter such a lie to you.”

“Understood. With the pride of an ancient dragon and my life, I will serve Hyrum, or rather, Your Majesty!”

“Hmm! It is fortuitous for me to have you as a vassal, Jorm.”

I was able to take an ancient dragon warrior as my vassal.

I gently stroked Jorm’s huge head.

“It may have been very fortunate for me as well. I have admired Your Majesty ever since I met you when I was little!”

And Jorm wagged his tail happily.

“I see. I promise you won’t regret it.”

It is the king’s duty to make his subjects feel happy to have served him.

To that end, the king ought to endeavor and continue his reign.

That’s what I think.

“Your Majesty, what am I to do now?”

“I don’t have any tasks for you at the moment. I have to find the location of the Demon God. So Jorm, until I call you, you can do as you please.”

“Very well, then I shall join Your Majesty then.”

After saying that, Jorm shrunk down to the size of a medium-sized dog.

His appearance was exactly like when Jormungandr brought him to see me.

“…… Jorm is skilled.”

“I am especially skilled among the ancient dragons.”

As he proudly said this, Jorm climbed onto my shoulder.

Jorm was lighter than a medium-sized dog. Perhaps he floats with magic.

Jorm said while riding on my shoulder.

“Even so, Your Majesty is amazing. To have reincarnated as a human. According to my father, there are no successful cases of reincarnation into the human race.”

“The one who told me to reincarnate as a human was the Dragon King Jormungandr.”

“My father claimed you would succeed, Your Majesty.”

The reason Jorm nested near the tomb was probably because Jormungandr wanted to help me.

So Jorm must also be familiar with Reincarnation Magic and the Demon God.

“My father said it had to do with the level. The more you fight, the higher your level and the higher your ability value.”

“I don’t know what a level is, but it feels right that the more you fight, the stronger you get..”

Jormungandr was an ancient dragon who would occasionally say things like levels and other such incomprehensible things.

“Humans are slow to level up, but when their level rises, their ability increases at a higher rate.”

“Come to think of it, I had heard such a thing from Jormungandr.”

The knowledge that humans are actually strong was originally something I learned from Jormungandr.

“I never understood why my father would tell me such a thing, but now I know why. It was to inform Your Majesty!”

Jorm wagged his tail happily.

“My father said that you were strong, and that in New Life, the human race would prove the strongest.”

Jormungandr still uses such incomprehensible terms.

“It’s the first time I’ve heard the word, but I can somehow assume the meaning.”

In my previous life, my entire existence was a series of battles.

From the moment of my birth to the moment of my death.

I defeated all manner of powerful enemies and even unified the world.

The level I acquired in the process was likely carried over to the human race.

“God would never expect it either! As expected of Your Majesty! The day you slay a God may not be far away.”

Jorm looks at me expectantly, but I’m not so optimistic.

There is a definite difference between the bodies of demons and humans. It will take some time to adapt.

Besides, I don’t know where the crucial Demon God is.

“Ah, that is so. Having just been reincarnated, Your Majesty has no funds on hand, right? You can use the treasure here if you like.”

“Are you sure? I believe collecting treasures is an important hobby for dragons…”

The hobby of an individual, or rather, an individual dragon, is important.

I make it a point to respect the hobbies of my vassals, unless they are extreme.

“I really have no interest in collecting treasures, I was just collecting them along with all the other ancient dragons.”

“Is that so? I guess there are various kinds of dragons too.”

I think Jormungandr, Jorm’s father, liked to collect treasure.

“I offer it as Your Majesty’s military fund.”

“Then, I’ll borrow it. I’ll be sure to return it later.”

It is against my principle to unilaterally deprive my vassals of their wealth without taxation.

“You need not return it, but if Your Majesty says so, I shall wait.”

“Rest assured.”

“I will ask it be returned after you reign as the Demon King.”

Jorm said, wagging his tail happily.
